The O’Kalems in Ireland
BIFF Films (2011)
Director: Peter Flynn
Producer: Tony Tracy
Running Time: 86 mins

A rare screening of ‘Kalem’ films made in Ireland around 1910, as well as a recently produced documentary devoted to the subject. More than a century ago, the New York-based Kalem Film Company ventured to Ireland to make the first fiction films by a US company outside the Americas, not to mention the first fiction films set and shot in the Emerald Isle. The rare films that survive helped forge the cinematic vision of Ireland we know today.

Presented by Sunniva O Flynn (IFI Curator) in association with BIFF films.
Live accompaniment by Stephen Horne.

Tickets: €16
