TALK – Ireland’s Other Silent Film Heritage (The Irish In Early Hollywood)

An illustrated lecture by Kevin Brownlow
Sunday, 13th March, 12.30pm
Kevin Brownlow

This is a FREE event if you buy a ticket for any other film in the programme

Kevin Brownlow examines the early history of the Irish in Hollywood and finds it a rich ancestry indeed. While we have at the festival often showcased some of the more important work done by the Irish in Hollywood, I have for some time now been pestering Kevin to provide us with a more complete overview of this fascinating period and the role of the Irish within it. Incorporating clips and other archive material, we are immensely fortunate to have Kevin present this fascinating lecture and take us on this whistlestop tour through Ireland’s ‘other’ film heritage. Along the way we encounter fascinating characters like Rex Ingram, Raoul Walsh, John Ford, Marion Davies and many others.
